TRC – Bangalore office provided structural consultant services for the JSW (JVML Blast Furnace SGP Cooling Tower – East).

Water is used in the process of Slag granulation, heats up to 95-degree Celsius. Zero liquid discharge concept is used where the water is completely reused.

The water at 95 deg is reduce to 40 deg and reused. This drop in temperature gradient is achieved in this cooling tower by dispersing the water into droplets and letting it fall by a height of 23m, additionally forced draft (Horizontal axis fans) is introduced for efficiency.

Previous cooling towers had to circulate the water more than twice to achieve this drop in temp gradient.

Installation was completed in 40 DAYS (Totally took 60 days, out of which crane was not available for 14 days, 10 days for miscellaneous reason) Which L&T wanted 1 year.
